Flower hammering Workshop
I will be doing a workshop at Heritage Supple this August! A flower hammering class is a workshop where participants learn to create unique prints on silk bandanas scarves by hammering flowers and leaves onto the material. This ancient Japanese technique utilizes the natural dyes within plants to transfer colorful patterns onto the fabric. You will have the freedom to create your own design with various plant and flowers all grown locally. Feel free to bring a few blooms of your own to experiment with. bundling workshop
Join us for a plant filled afternoon where we learn how flowers and plants can make amazing dyes. You will be provided with a silk bandana scarf to design and print your own pattern with pressed plants and flowers from Sonja’s dye garden. We will be using a bundle dying technique where we steam the flowers to extract and transfer the colors from onto the fabrics. Sonja is a brilliant, local artist and the owner of Eco Raw Studio. Complimentary healing elixirs provided.
